Make Ahead Refrigerator Rolls

Grandma Betty's Refrigerator Rolls

Easy and very delicious. Nice in that you can make this recipe up several days ahead of time and forget about until you need it.

Cook Time:25 minutes
Total Time:40 minutes

Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl dissolve the following:
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/2 C shortening
  • 1/2 C boiling water
  • Let cool.
  • In small bowl dissolve:
  • 2 packages yeast in 1/2 C very warm water like bath water temp
  • In first bowl add:
  • 1 1/2 C cold water 2 well-beaten eggs, the yeast mixture and 2 t salt.
  • Add 4 C flour and beat with mixer. Add 3 more C flour and mix by hand.
  • Empty dough into well-greased bowl with lid. (I use a large Tupperware bowl or a 5-qt ice cream bucket. Snap on the lid and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Can be kept in refrigerator up to 2 weeks. This dough makes excellent dinner rolls or sweet rolls. Bake 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
