Denise Herrick, center, is the mother and mother-in-law of the other four members of the group. Herrick has been an Iowa farm wife for 46 years. Jenny Herrick, Molly Herrick, and Shelby Herrick live on their own Iowa farms, while, Annie Boyd, Denise’s oldest daughter, lives in California where she homeschools her five children. They love to find new ways to celebrate everyday life together.

“Why do we consistently overlook one of the simplest pleasures – to linger, savor and enjoy our time at the table? Throughout scripture, we see the practice of breaking bread together and setting apart gathering at the table as distinct markers in kingdom building. Through heartfelt stories, practical examples and delicious recipes that will make any gathering feel extra special, the Gingham Apron ladies unpack the critical importance of table fellowship in “The Gathering Table.” With so many great ideas, you’ll be offering invitations before the end of the first chapter.”

“The Gathering Table is a rich fare of meaningful family traditions, recipes that make taste buds happy, relevant stories and takeaways of get-togethers, all with the spread of a Bible study to give this exactly what we need today: a resource for how to bring faith and family traditions to the forefront of our gatherings. Each contributor brings a perspective that is wholesome for us to reflect on how we are using our time with our family and with others. I came away encouraged to stir up more creativity for my own family and not feel guilty for doing it our way. There’s no right or wrong recipe – the authors give you the ability to create your own memories from their guided prompts, and they provide a snapshot of how they have brought more meaning to their individual and family gatherings. As there are seasons to nature, there are seasons of thoughtful gatherings that we can provide, and this beautiful book shows you exactly how to enhance what you are doing or start from scratch. You’ll want to refer this valuable resource on more than one occasion!”
