Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: American, European
Serves: 10 to 12 servings
Ingredients
  • 1½ C sugar
  • ½ C flour
  • ½ t nutmeg
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • ¼ t salt
  • 10 C peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or another tart baking apple. I used 8-10 apples)
  • 3 T butter
  • Pastry for 2 crust pie
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and apples. Turn into 9x13 pan and dot mixture with butter.
  2. Pastry: If using prepared refrigerated crust, overlap the dough so that it is 1" longer than the length of the dish. Add to the corners of the crust to create more of a rectangle. Flute the edges or turn them under. Cut in some vents on the crust. Bake approx an hour or until the apples are soft and juices bubble. Best served warm. Ice cream or Cool Whip for topping.
