Recipe type: appetizer
Cuisine: American, European
Serves: 8-12 servings
Ingredients
4 oz crumbled blue cheese (Optional brie or Havarti)
2 T unsalted butter
2 T bandy (optional) or a favorite flavoring, your choice
¼ C chopped walnuts (I use pecans, too)
16¼ " thick toasted French bread slices or baguette slices
1 medium ripe pear, cored and thinly sliced
Instructions
In a small bowl let the blue cheese and butter stand at room temperature about 30 minutes. Mash with a fork until well combined. Stir in flavoring and chopped walnuts.
Place bread on cookie sheet, broiling each side until toasted. Take out of oven and cool a minute.
Top each slice of toast with a pear slice. Top each pear slice with 1 T of the blue cheese mixture.
Place bread slices on a baking sheet. Broil about 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve hot.
