Ingredients
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 8 large marshmallows
  • 2 Tbs melted butter
  • 3 Tbs sugar
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to temperature indicated on crescent roll package. While oven is preheating read John 19
  2. Divide roll of dough along perforations to make 8 triangles. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Melt butter in another bowl.
  3. Give each child a marshmallow and explain that the marshmallow will represent Jesus
  4. Have them dip their marshmallow into the melted butter and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat. Explain how after Jesus died, two of his followers anointed his body with spices (John 19:40) The Cinnamon sugar represent those spices.
  5. Jesus' followers then put Him in a tomb (19:42). Have them place a marshmallow on the short side of each dough triangle and roll up and tuck down the tip and pinch the seams to seal. Each roll represents the tomb.
  6. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and bake according to crescent roll directions. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  7. The marshmallows will have melted and disappeared during baking. Allow the children to break open the tomb (roll) and discover that the body of Jesus is no longer there. He has risen!
  8. Read John 20 while enjoying your delicious rolls!
