Homemade Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour milk (or 2 Tbs vinegar topped with milk to make 1 cup of liquid)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 Tbs cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ….
  • Frosting
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 Tbs cocoa
  • 8 Tbs milk
  • 8 Tbs butter
Instructions
  1. Mix cake ingredients together in order listed until well combined
  2. Pour into a greased 9'x13' pan
  3. Bake 50-60 minutes at 325 degrees
  4. Once cake is out of the oven cooling begin making frosting
  5. For the frosting, mix together sugar, cocoa, milk and butter together in a saucepan
  6. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  7. Boil for two minutes, stirring continusloy.
  8. Remove from heat and stir until poured onto cake.
  9. Allow frosting to cool and set.
  10. Enjoy!
