Jessica's Biscuits and Gravy

Ingredients
  • For the Biscuits:
  • 2 C flour
  • 3 t baking powder
  • 1 t salt
  • ¼ C shortening, butter, or coconut oil
  • 1 C milk
  • For the gravy:
  • ¼ C butter
  • ¼ C flour
  • 2 C milk (cold)
  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage, browned.
Instructions
  1. For the biscuits:
  2. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cut in the shortening, and stir in the milk.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For the gravy:
  7. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium high heat.
  8. Whisk the flour into the butter. Add the milk and and continue whisking until desired thickness is achieved. Stir in the sausage. (Add a little more milk if the gravy is too thick.)
  9. Serve immediately over the biscuits.
